Bill of materials templates for every solar system mode

A bill of materials (BOM) template lists items with specification, make, quantity and unit for one system mode. Bharat Solar Venture starts you with default templates, lets you edit your own copy, and copies the right template into the quotation when you finalize it, so every PDF carries a complete BOM.

One template per system mode

There is a template for each system mode: on-grid, off-grid, hybrid and VFD. Each row has a label, a specification, a make, a quantity, a unit and a position in the list, so you can describe an inverter, structure, cabling or earthing exactly the way you sell it.

Solar pump (VFD) systems

Solar pump quotations use the VFD system mode, which has its own template next to on-grid, off-grid and hybrid. It works the same way: the platform provides default rows, your first edit copies them into your own set, and the items are copied into the quotation and printed on the second page of the PDF when you finalize it.

A pump quotation does not take its items from the on-grid template, because the template follows the system mode chosen on the quotation. Open the VFD template, check the default rows and edit them to match what you actually supply before you finalize.

Start from defaults, then make them yours

The platform provides default rows. The first time you edit a system mode, Bharat Solar Venture copies those defaults into your own set. Your changes stay yours and never touch another vendor's template or the defaults.

Copied when you finalize

When a quotation is finalized, its bill of materials is built from your template for that system mode and printed on the second page of the PDF. Because the items are copied at that moment, editing a template later does not change quotations you have already sent.

Common mistakes

  • Editing the template after sending

The items are copied into the quotation when it is finalized, so a later template edit does not change quotations already sent.

  • Changing the template to suit one deal

The bill of materials comes from your template for the system mode at the moment you finalize. Edit the template before finalizing, and remember it then applies to every later quotation in that mode.

  • Assuming one template covers every mode

On-grid, off-grid, hybrid and VFD each have their own template, so check the one that matches the quotation.

What to check before you send

  • Each system mode you sell has a template listing the items you want printed
  • Every row has its label, specification, make, quantity and unit filled in
  • The rows are in the order you want them on the second page of the PDF
  • The template is final before you finalize the quotation
  • For a solar pump quotation, the VFD template lists the items you actually supply

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the BOM for one quotation only?

The bill of materials is taken from your template for the system mode at the moment you finalize. To change the items, edit the template before finalizing.

Do template edits change old quotations?

No. The items are copied into the quotation when it is finalized, so earlier quotations keep the bill of materials they were sent with.

Are solar pump (VFD) systems covered?

Yes. VFD is one of the four system modes and has its own bill-of-materials template.
