Solar GST calculator with CGST, SGST and IGST
Enter the system and bill-of-materials amounts, an optional battery line, every GST rate and the two states. The calculator discounts each line, adds GST on each discounted line, and splits it into equal CGST and SGST when the states match or into IGST when they differ. It contains no default rate.
GST rate: check the current rate on the official CBIC / GST Council website.

Official source for current rates: CBIC GST rates page (cbic-gst.gov.in).
How it is calculated
- Line amount = capacity × rate per kilowatt, minus a flat discount, never below zero. A battery line is unit price × quantity, minus its discount.
- GST on each discounted line = line amount × the rate you entered for that line. The line GST amounts are added up.
- Same state: total GST is split into CGST and SGST, with CGST rounded to the paisa and SGST taking the remainder.
- Different states: the whole GST amount is IGST. Grand total = taxable total + total GST.
Assumptions
- Every GST rate is typed by you. This page holds no default rate for any line.
- Each line is capacity × rate per kW (battery: unit price × quantity), minus a flat discount, and GST is worked out on each discounted line.
- The split is decided only by the two states you choose: the same state gives equal CGST and SGST, different states give IGST. Place-of-supply rules and special cases are not applied.
- With CGST and SGST, CGST is rounded to the paisa and SGST takes the remainder, so the two always add up to the total GST.
- This is an estimate for a quotation. It is not a tax invoice, not a return and not tax advice. The calculator does not store what you enter.

How the split is decided
Choose your state and the customer's state. When they are the same, the total GST is split into CGST and SGST of equal value. When they differ, the whole amount is IGST. Nothing else is considered, so special cases still need your tax advisor.
Rates you enter yourself
Rates differ by item and can change, so this page does not guess them. You type the rate for the system line, the bill-of-materials line and, if you add one, the battery line. Check the current rates on the official GST sources before you quote.
Example: GST on a solar pump quotation
A solar pump quotation is made of the same lines as any other: a system line, a bill-of-materials line and, only if you add one, a battery line. Enter the amount of each line and the rate you have checked for it, then choose your state and the customer's state.
Here is the same calculation with letters instead of figures. If a discounted line comes to V and the rate you entered for it is R, the GST on that line is V times R. When your state and the customer's state match, that GST is shown as equal CGST and SGST. When they differ, all of it is shown as IGST.
Do not carry a rate over from another quotation without checking it for the pump items: this page supplies no rate and does not guess one. A quotation made in Bharat Solar Venture shows the taxable total, the total GST and the grand total separately.
What this is not
It is an estimate for a quotation. It is not a tax invoice, it does not file returns and it is not tax advice. It uses the same calculation service as the quotation engine, so a quotation in Bharat Solar Venture follows the same rules line by line.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no default GST rate?
Rates differ by item and can change, so the page does not guess. You enter each rate yourself, and the current rate should be checked on the official GST Council or CBIC website before you quote.
Does it issue a tax invoice?
No. It is an estimate for a quotation. Bharat Solar Venture produces quotations only: it does not issue GST invoices or file returns.
How do I show GST on a solar pump quotation?
Enter the amount of each line and the rate you have checked for it, then pick your state and the customer's state. The same state gives equal CGST and SGST, and a different state gives IGST. The calculator contains no default rate, so you supply each one.
What decides CGST and SGST or IGST?
Only the two states you pick. The same state gives equal CGST and SGST, and different states give IGST. Place-of-supply rules and special cases are not applied, so check them with your tax advisor.
