Solar quotation format: a sample you can copy
A solar quotation usually has five parts: a summary with the taxable total and tax split, a bill of materials, terms and conditions, a closing with acceptance and signature, and a thank-you page. This sample shows each part with a fictional customer and made-up figures, so you can copy the structure into your own format.

How to read this sample
Every name and amount in the sample is fictional and marked as a sample. The tax rate shown is invented for the example and is not a real rate, so do not copy any figure from it. What is worth copying is the order of the parts and the way each total is built from the line above it.
Two parts are not made up. The bill of materials is the default on-grid list the app starts from, and the terms headings are the default sections it starts from. Both are read from the app's own records when this page is built.

What each part is for
The first part answers the customer's first question: what do I get and what does it cost. The second lists the equipment so the price can be compared line by line. The third sets the commercial rules, and the fourth turns the document into something the customer can accept.
- Summary: the proposal, the taxable total, the tax split, the total in words and any indicative subsidy.
- Bill of materials: what is supplied, to what specification and in what quantity.
- Terms and conditions: delivery, payment, warranty, scope and exclusions.
- Closing: the acceptance box and the authorised signature.
- Thank-you: a short note and your contact details.
Choosing the right bill of materials
The lines in part two depend on the type of system. A grid-tied system needs different equipment from a battery-backed one, and a solar pump has no inverter at all. Each type has its own template page, with the default list and a note on what changes from one type to another.
The terms in part three are the same for every type, apart from the few clauses you edit. They have their own copy-ready page.
Make it your own
A real quotation carries your branding, bank details, signature and a permanent number. It also holds your own prices, which no template can know. Use the sample for layout, then fill it from your price book and your agreed terms.
Frequently asked questions
Is this sample a valid quotation?
No. It names a fictional customer, uses invented figures and a made-up tax rate, and carries no number, date or signature. It exists to show the layout and the arithmetic and must not be sent to a customer.
Why does the sample not use real prices?
Prices, tax rates and subsidy rules change, and they differ by project and state. A fixed figure on a template would soon be wrong, so the sample uses obvious placeholders and points to the calculators for real arithmetic.
Can I download the sample as a file?
Not yet. A download slot is reserved on this page and stays empty until a sample file is supplied. Until then, the page itself is the sample, and you can print it from your browser.
Where do the bill of materials and terms come from?
They are read from the app's own default records when the page is built, and refreshed on a schedule. If the records cannot be reached, the page says so and shows the last saved copy where one exists.

Common mistakes
Copying a figure from the sample
Every name and amount in the sample is fictional, and its tax rate is invented. Copy the order of the parts and the way each total is built from the line above it, not any figure.
Sending the sample to a customer
The sample names a fictional customer and carries no number, date or signature, so it must not be sent to a customer.
Expecting a downloadable file
No sample file is offered yet. The page itself is the sample, and you can print it from your browser.
What to check before you send
- Your quotation has the same parts: summary, bill of materials, terms and conditions, closing and thank-you
- Prices come from your own price book, not from the sample
- Your branding, bank details, signature and a permanent number are on the real quotation
- You read the bill of materials page that matches your system type
