Solar subsidy calculator for India

Enter a system size in kilowatts, and optionally a state, to see an indicative central subsidy and any state top-up we hold a rule for. Each line is labelled verified or unverified. The result is informational, so confirm the final amount with your state nodal agency or DISCOM.

How it is calculated

  1. Find the central rule in force for the installation type and system mode you chose.
  2. Apply that rule's rate per kilowatt to the system size, using its bands and its maximum amount.
  3. If you chose a state and a state rule is on file, add that rule's amount as a separate line.
  4. Total subsidy = central + state. If you entered an invoice total, indicative net cost = invoice total − total subsidy, never below zero.

Assumptions

  • Amounts come from the subsidy rules held in our records and evaluated on the date shown with the result. No amount is typed into this page.
  • Defaults: a residential, on-grid system unless you change the installation type or system mode.
  • A state line appears only when a state is chosen and we hold a rule for it. No state line means we hold no rule, not that the state offers nothing.
  • An optional invoice total is used only to show an indicative net cost: total minus subsidy, never below zero.
  • A line is verified only when its rule has been checked against an official notification. Any other line is labelled unverified and the result says: Confirm with your state nodal agency / DISCOM.
  • The subsidy is paid by the government to the customer after commissioning; you pay the full amount quoted. It needs a DISCOM-registered vendor, net metering and DCR/ALMM-listed modules, and the final amount follows MNRE/state guidelines.

How we verify data

Where the amounts come from

The calculator asks our server to apply the subsidy rules held in our records to the size you enter. The date the rules were evaluated is shown with the result. No subsidy amount is typed into this page, so when a rule changes the result changes with it.

Verified and unverified lines

A line is verified only when its rule has been checked against an official notification. Any other line is labelled unverified, and the result then asks you to confirm with your state nodal agency or DISCOM. Treat an unverified figure as a rough guide, not a promise.

What the subsidy does not change

The customer pays the full quoted amount, and the subsidy is paid to them afterwards. It is shown separately and never changes the price, the GST or the grand total. The optional invoice total only lets the page show an indicative net cost.

Frequently asked questions

Is the subsidy deducted from what the customer pays?

No. The customer pays the full quoted amount and the subsidy is paid to them by the government after commissioning. It is shown separately and never changes the price, GST or grand total.

Why is a line marked unverified?

A rule is verified only when its figures have been checked against an official notification. Until then it is shown as unverified, and you should confirm the amount with your state nodal agency or DISCOM.

Does a missing state line mean the state gives nothing?

No. It only means we hold no rule for that state. Check with your state nodal agency, because state schemes can change at any time.
