State solar subsidy tracker

This tracker lists every state and union territory with the status of its solar subsidy rule as our records show it: verified, unverified, inactive, or no rule on file. Coverage is incomplete, and no rule on file does not mean a state offers nothing. Confirm any amount with the state nodal agency or DISCOM before you quote it.

Coverage

36 states and union territories are listed. 0 have a verified state rule in force, 3 an unverified one, 0 a rule on file that is not in force today, and 33 have no state rule on file here.

Coverage is incomplete. A state shown with no rule on file may still run a scheme we have not recorded, so read the table as what our records hold, not as a map of every state scheme. A state top-up depends on the customer's state (the installation site), not the installer's company state. The central rule is on the solar subsidy guide.

What changed

No changes have been logged here yet. Each change will be listed with its date.

How each status is decided

Each state is read against today's date. The rules come from our records, which a person enters and checks against the official notification; nothing is fetched or compared automatically. A rule not re-checked for more than 90 days carries a notice. The full process is on the methodology page.

Verified
A state rule is in force today, it is marked verified, and the date a person checked it against the official notification is recorded.
Unverified
A state rule is in force today, but it is not marked verified or no check date is recorded. Confirm it with the state nodal agency or DISCOM before you rely on it.
Inactive
We hold a state rule for this state, but its dates do not cover today: it has ended or has not started yet. Do not quote it.
No rule on file
We hold no state rule for this state. That does not prove the state offers no subsidy.

Download the data

The table is published as a CSV file with one row per state or union territory: its code, name and status, then the rule's title, system types, slab rates, maximum amount, dates and source link, the state page when it is indexed, the day the file was generated and where its data came from. The full rules are also published as JSON at /data/subsidy.json.

The status table on this page is also published as CSV at /data/subsidy.csv. Each row says when the file was generated and where its data came from.

How we verify data

Frequently asked questions

What does inactive mean?

We hold a state rule for this state, but its dates do not cover today: it has ended or has not started yet. Do not quote it. Confirm the current position with the state nodal agency or DISCOM.

Why does a state show no rule on file?

It means only that we hold none. A state may run a top-up that we have not recorded, so confirm with the state nodal agency or DISCOM before you promise a customer any figure.

When is a rule marked verified?

Only when a person has recorded the date they checked it against the official notification. Without that date it is shown as unverified, even if the data says verified.

Can I reuse the CSV file?

A reuse licence has not been chosen yet, so ask before you republish the data.

Common mistakes

  • Reading no rule on file as no state subsidy

It means only that we hold none, not that the state offers nothing.

  • Reading verified as a promised amount

Verified means a person checked the rule on the date shown. The official scheme decides the final amount.

  • Quoting an inactive rule

An inactive rule is one we hold whose dates do not cover today. Confirm the current position before you quote anything.

  • Using your company's state

A state top-up depends on the customer's state, which is the installation site, not the installer's company state.

What to check before you send

  • You looked up the customer's state, not your company's state
  • The status and the last checked date both support the figure you rely on
  • A state that is unverified, inactive or has no rule on file is confirmed with the state nodal agency or DISCOM
  • You read the table as the records we hold, not as a list of every state scheme
