Hybrid inverter: meaning in solar

A hybrid inverter manages solar panels, a battery and the grid in one unit. It usually serves the load from the panels first, charges the battery with any surplus, and draws on the grid or the battery when the sun is low. It suits a site that wants backup power but stays connected to the grid.

In more detail

The behaviour is set in the inverter, so two hybrid models can prioritise differently. The datasheet, not the label, says what a given unit will do.

Battery size decides how long backup lasts, and it is priced separately from the inverter.

Where it shows up in the app

Hybrid is one of the system modes on a quotation, and the optional battery line carries its own price, quantity, discount and GST rate.
