BOS: meaning in solar
BOS means balance of system: everything in a solar installation other than the modules, such as the inverter, mounting structure, cables, protection devices, earthing and installation work. A quotation often prices the modules and the balance of system apart so the customer can see where the money goes.

In more detail
BOS is an engineering shorthand and its edges are not fixed: some suppliers count the inverter inside it and some price it alone. Whatever you choose, use the same split on every quotation so customers can compare.
It is a cost grouping, not a document. The itemised list of what is supplied is the bill of materials.
Where it shows up in the app
A quotation prices a system line and a bill-of-materials line separately, each with its own discount and GST rate, and an optional battery line.

Changing the split from quotation to quotation
The edges of BOS are not fixed and some suppliers count the inverter inside it, so use the same split on every quotation.
Treating BOS as a document
It is a cost grouping, not a document. The itemised list of what is supplied is the bill of materials.
What to check before you send
- You use the same BOS split as on your other quotations
- The system line and the bill-of-materials line are priced separately
- Each line has its own discount and GST rate set
