Bill of materials: meaning in solar

A bill of materials is the itemised list of equipment in a quotation: each line names an item, its specification and its quantity. It lets the customer compare two quotations line by line. The list changes with the system type, since a pump system has no inverter and a battery system has batteries.

In more detail

A vague line such as inverter with no make or rating cannot be compared and invites disputes later. Name the item, state the rating and give the quantity.

The list should match what is delivered. If the make changes at the supply stage, issue a revision rather than quietly substituting.

Where it shows up in the app

When a quotation is finalized, the app copies your bill-of-materials template for that system mode into it. The template pages show the default list for each mode.
