Performance ratio: meaning in solar
Performance ratio compares the energy a solar plant actually delivers with the energy it would deliver if it worked at its rated efficiency in the sunlight it received. It captures losses from heat, dust, wiring and the inverter. A higher ratio means the plant loses less on the way from panel to meter.

In more detail
The ratio is always below one, because every real plant has losses. It lets you compare plants in different places, since it removes the effect of how sunny the site is.
A sizing estimate has to assume a ratio, because the real one is only known after the plant has run.
Where it shows up in the app
The app's size estimate and the free size calculator apply one fixed derating factor for these losses. The calculator page shows the value it uses, so it is not repeated here.

What to check before you send
- The assumed derating factor is shown with the estimate
- The customer knows the figure is an assumption
- The figure comes from the size calculator, not from a number typed from memory
