ALMM: meaning in solar

ALMM is the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers kept by the ministry for renewable energy. List-I covers solar modules and List-II covers solar cells. Government projects, scheme projects, open access and net-metering projects may use only listed modules, so an installer checks the model against the list before quoting it.

In more detail

Listing is by manufacturer and model, so one brand can have listed and unlisted models. The ministry updates the lists as models are added or removed, which means a model that was listed when stock was bought may have changed since.

The ministry also publishes dated orders on when the cell list applies and who is exempt. Read those on the source page rather than from a summary, because they change.

Where it shows up in the app

A quotation names the module specification and brand from your catalog. The app does not hold the ministry's list, so the listing check is yours to make before you send the quotation.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming the app checks the list

The app does not hold the ministry's list, so the listing check is yours to make before you send the quotation.

  • Treating a brand as listed

Listing is by manufacturer and model, so one brand can have listed and unlisted models.

  • Relying on an old check

The ministry updates the lists, so a model that was listed when stock was bought may have changed since.

What to check before you send

  • The exact model is on the current list
  • You read the dated orders on the source page, not a summary of them
  • The module specification and brand on the quotation match the model you checked
