PM-KUSUM: meaning in solar

PM-KUSUM, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan, is a scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for farmers. It has three components: solar plants on farm land, standalone solar pumps, and solarisation of pumps already on the grid. State nodal agencies carry it out, and the scheme and the state set the support.

The component that matters most to a pump dealer is the second. It helps farmers install standalone solar pumps, either to replace diesel pumps or at new off-grid irrigation points. The first covers solar plants on farm land, and the third covers pumps that are already connected to the grid.

The ministry sets the framework, but a state nodal agency runs the scheme in each state, so the portal, the documents and the vendor rules differ. A quotation should call a job a scheme job only when the state agency has confirmed its terms.
